Our Mission
Community Thrive was founded by Donna Kargel, an educator and career development specialist with over 30 years of experience. Her work is shaped by her own journey as a neurodivergent learner, diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, and by her experience as a mother.
Donna stepped away from a principalship to homeschool her neurodivergent daughter, while supporting another daughter in a traditional high school setting. This awarded her a unique perspective. She saw firsthand the pressure placed on students to make early decisions, with little focus on who they are—their strengths, interests, and individual path. The emphasis remained on testing and college entry, with minimal support for families whose children were not college-bound.
Community Thrive was created in response to that gap—ensuring youth and families are supported as whole individuals, given time to explore, and guided toward paths that lead to clarity, purpose, and independence.
Why We Exist
Bridging the gap between education and opportunity
Too many talented young people leave high school unsure of their next step. Traditional pathways don't fit everyone — and the gap between classroom learning and real-world careers continues to widen.
Community Thrive exists to change that. We connect Florida students to skilled trades, technology, mentorship, and meaningful service — preparing them not just for a job, but for a life of purpose.
